Peppermint Barktini

Happy Christmas Eve! I made up this dessert cocktail for my sister and me a couple of weeks ago - it's very festive and perfect for Christmas.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 3/4 oz crème de cacao
  • 3/4 oz crème de menthe
  • crushed candy canes
  • simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice

Combine the vodka, crème de cacao, crème de menthe, and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Spread the crushed candy canes out on wax paper. Line the edge of a martini glass with simple syrup and then dip the rim of the glass onto the crushed candy canes.

Pour the drink into the candy cane rimmed glass and enjoy! Merry Christmas!

Tipsy Turkey Cocktail Recipe

Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I've got Thanksgiving recipes for you, but if you need a break from all the cooking (or dealing with your relatives), I also have a fun Thanksgiving-themed cocktail I made up last year - the Tipsy Turkey (and no, it's not your father/mother-in-law/grandpa . . . )

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz orange vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz cranberry juice
    • I like to use 100% cranberry juice - it tastes a lot better than the cranberry juice cocktail that's mixed with apple juice.
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz orgeat
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Pour into a tiki mug (or any relative who won't shut up about politics) and enjoy!

  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz Gran Marnier
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Lemon Drop Martini Recipe

Today I'm sharing the recipe for a Lemon Drop martini - I really love these! I make mine very sour with just a little bit of simple syrup - they are great paired with seafood or grilled chicken or for enjoying by themselves.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz lemon vodka
  • 2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup
  • Rimming sugar (you can use regular sugar to rim the glass, but a rimming sugar designed to be used for cocktails works best)
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Rim the edges of a martini glass with the sugar. To rim the glass, rub a lime or lemon on the edge of the glass. Spread the rimming sugar out on wax paper and then rub the edges of the glass with the sugar.

Next, combine the vodka lemon juice, simple syrup, and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain the drink into the rimmed martini glass. You can put in a few pieces of the ice if you want the drink to stay colder longer.

Enjoy!

Pussy Grabber Cocktail Recipe

This pink drink may not grab that, but my sour cocktail will definitely grab em by the tastebuds.  And since it's such a star, we're gonna let it do whatever it wants.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz grapefruit vodka
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz orgeat
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Combine the ice, grapefruit vodka, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and orgeat in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Pour into a tiki mug (or your glass of choice).  No need for Tic Tacs here, because your tastebuds are gonna be moved on - like a bitch.

Nasty Woman Cocktail Recipe

During the 2016 election, and ever since, I've been naming some of my drinks after the outrageous things the current president says (or the various nicknames we think up for the cheeto-in-chief).  One the first ones I created was the Nasty Woman, and I thought President's Day would be a good day to share it.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz lemon vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz blue curaçao (nasty women vote blue of course)
  • 1/4 oz grenadine (for the "blood coming out of her wherever")
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Combine the ice, lemon vodka, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and blue curaçao in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Pour into a tiki mug (or your glass of choice).  Add the grenadine as a float on top.  Enjoy and get nasty!  All of us nasty women definitely need at least one of these.

Vicious Vamp Cocktail

Since it's almost Halloween, I felt like making some spooky cocktails.  These would be perfect to serve at a Halloween party (or to enjoy any time!) Today I'm sharing the recipe for one I created called the Vicious Vamp. It's a pinky-peach cocktail with a splash of red - it looks like a vampire just finished with a victim!

  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz orgeat
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Combine the grapefruit vodka, grapefruit juice, lime juice, orgeat, and ice in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.  Add the grenadine as a float.

Serve in a tiki mug or glass of your choice, and suck it down!

Brave Brinley Cocktail

Hi y'all!  Sorry for the long absence - I got sick with the nastiest cold - I just couldn't shake it.  And I haven't really been sick in years.  But I'm finally feeling better, and I'm back with another cocktail recipe I created.  I named this one after our almost one-year old westie puppy, Brinley.

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz grapefruit vodka
  • 1 oz orange vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1 oz blood orange juice
  • 1/2 oz orgeat
  • 1/2 oz orange curaçao
  • 1 cup crushed ice
I used Deep Eddy Grapefruit vodka and Absolut Mandarin vodka, but any good grapefruit and orange vodkas will work.  You can buy lots of different brands of orange curaçao, but if you can find the Pierre Ferrand dry curaçao, you should definitely get it - it tastes much better than the Hiram Walker or the DeKuyper.  If you can't find blood orange juice, you can substitute regular orange juice, but blood orange juice does have a distinctive taste.  I found this blood orange juice at Central Market.

Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.

Serve in a tiki mug or your glass of choice.

And here's Miss Brave Brinley herself!
